9barista Espresso MachineCoffee enthusiasts looking for a new coffee machine will be thrilled to find out that the 9Barista Espresso Machine is currently available in the market. This portable espresso machine can deliver the perfect coffee in high pressures without prolonging extraction times and sealing in flavor in each drop. With it, you will never need another coffee maker; each sip will feel as bold and rich as the first time.

Below, is a breakdown of everything we know about the 9Barista Espresso Machine and why you need one now!

What is the 9Barista Espresso Machine?

Designed by William Playford, a coffee fanatic and a jet engineer from Cambridge University, the 9Barista is a unique espresso machine. It comes with a patented twin boiler system, needs no electronics and contains only one moving part, making beautifully simple coffee. So if you’re in need of an espresso shot, this stovetop espresso machine won’t just bring great coffee but will also provide you with great aesthetics through its walnut accents and smooth curves.

First designed as a passion project, William was able to create this tool using his knowledge of jet engines while delivering the perfect brewing conditions. Its construction and quality are obvious from the second you pick it up, and is easier to use compared to other machines while being portable at the same time. Unlike other barista machines it uses fresh ground coffee, so you may need a hand grinder but you’ll never find the same build quality in any other tool.

How Does it Work?

Basically, there are two things needed to make a great espresso which is water at the right temperature that will help to extract flavor from your ground coffee and water that moves through the coffee at the correct pressure. These two factors directly impact both the body and flavor of your coffee which is why some coffee shop machines can be very expensive. Unfortunately, this can be an issue with low quality coffee makers since they can’t generate enough pressure to extract flavor.

Luckily, the 9Barista provides a solution by using a system of twin boilers which uses one to create pressure and the other for temperature regulation. Espresso machines use simple mechanics to produce coffee; a pressurized boiler forces hot water through grounds of coffee to get more flavor than you would from a non-pressurized option. Because the first boiler sits right on top of the heat source, it can hit temperatures of over 350° F and create 9 bars of pressure.

The pressure created from this heat then forces the water through a chamber where the temperature drops to 200° F. Next, your coffee passes through the basket of ground coffee and travels up to your pitcher; all of this takes around 6 to 7 minutes after you start the machine.

Can the 9Barista Make Good Espresso?

Many people judge their espresso based on the complexity of flavor it delivers; the best will come with nice crema and a good body. Low quality espresso will often come with a bitter or sour taste; fortunately, the 9Barista can make excellent espresso given this metric. This is especially impressive since this device doesn’t come with the same pressure and temperature controls that you’d find on a luxury espresso machine.

The crema is also impressive; it produces a thick layer of almond crema that appears right after the coffee bubbles to the top of the pitcher with a fullness that covers the mouth. You’ll also find it relaxing to watch the coffee erupt slowly but keep in mind that this machine doesn’t come with milk steaming. As such, you may need an external milk frother if you love drinking espresso in the form of a cappuccino or latte.

As we tested this Espresso maker, it reminded us of turbocharged engines but more specifically, the charge cooling and the pressure boost which can affect performance. This espresso maker was made to accurately control these variables, while its design also pays tribute to the mind of a jet engineer.

9Barista Espresso Maker Features

Most machines today use electric pumps for creating pressure, while others use electric boilers to create steam. However, the first machines used open flames to heat up their boiler; this is something that the 9Barista espresso machine has in common, but you can use any kind of stove you have. Below are just a few of the other features that you’re sure to love with this espresso maker.

  • Create Professional Espresso: The 9Barista is known for consistently producing perfect brewing conditions similar to the big machines in your local cafes. This results in exquisite coffees with the perfect crema.
  • Reliable Construction: Made using solid brass, this great espresso machine uses no moving parts (with the exception of a spring) or moving parts. It has also been engineered to last years, serving you for a lifetime.
  • Cost Effective and Fast: Because 9Barista uses fresh ground coffee rather than pods, you can save more money in the long run. It’s also one of the faster options in the market; it won’t take a long time to create an espresso from cold water.
  • Compact and Versatile: This small and adaptable espresso machine will work on any cooker, including induction (with the addition of an induction plate) and electric hobs, as well as gas, and even over a camping stove!
  • Simple but Beautiful: Even without the need for electronics, this machine can create professional-quality espresso using patented technology. This alone sets it apart from every other espresso maker.

Is the 9Barista Espresso Machine Worth it?

You may notice that the 9Barista isn’t as fast as some of the more popular options that use an electric pump to produce espressos in seconds. But if you don’t mind waiting for a bit and are looking for an option that won’t take up all your counterspace, this can be a great alternative. We’ve tested a wide range of espresso makers, and the kind that the 9Barista delivers is definitely as good or even better compared to high-end machines.

Just keep in mind that you may need the help of a decent grinder to get fine ground coffee from your coffee beans. If you’re not willing to shell out huge amounts of money for a café quality espresso machine, you’ll be happy with the 9Barista which can give similar results. It’s also a good option if you want to give your kitchen a pop of industrial art; just be sure to put it some place where you can appreciate it.

Conclusion

The 9Barista Espresso Machine may look simple but you’ll never guess how well it makes espresso and it’s also compact; with it, you can enjoy good coffee anytime, anywhere. Coffee aficionados can now make their favorite coffees without the higher price tag while being able to work with a stove top. Even without a built-in burr grinder this option is hard to fault despite the fact that it’s more expensive compared to similar models.

Even so, it’s also cheaper than luxury coffee machines that produce the same flavor and body and for $550, it will surely last you for a lifetime.
