Scanpan is a family-owned company located in Denmark. But in recent years, this company has worked consistently to provide quality-products to establish itself throughout the world. And their hard work has paid off because Scanpan has become one of the leading brands when it comes to making high-quality cookware.

Most Scanpan products are eco-friendly and are made using only recycled aluminum. On top of that, Scanpan Cookware is covered with a unique coating called Stratanium+. This coating is one of the best things to happen to cookware since its invention, as it increases the durability of the cookware and makes it entirely non-stick. Unlike other non-stick coatings, Stratanium+ is tough, resistant to most scratches, and non-corrosive.

The materials used to make this coating are ceramic and Titanium. These materials have excellent qualities that work together synergistically and make Scanpan cookware tough, durable, and strong. According to Scanpan, their cookware can resist temperatures of up to 932 degrees without compromising all of its non-stick properties.

Scanpan has a diverse range of options when it comes to non-stick products and includes products like The Classic pan, Professional pan, CTX, strataum, and induction pan. These pans are famous for their versatility as they are compatible with most of the popular dishwashers, ovens, and induction cookers. Many Scanpan products have similarities and overlapping features, so the differences between their cookware aren’t as much as Greenpan’s.

This Pioneer of the Cookware industry makes incredible and long-lasting products that have placed them at the top when it comes to quality cookware. This company is based in Belgium, where it makes most of its products from recycled aluminum and stainless steel. Greenpan is considered a pioneer in the cookware industry as it was among the first companies that started focusing on safer and healthier coatings for their non-stick pans.

But Greenpan didn’t just substitute conventional coating with safer coatings, but they maintained the quality of their products. Because of their use of recycled materials, the CO2 emission of this company has dropped by many folds. Like Scanpan, Greenpan also uses a unique material called Thermolon to coat their non-stick products.

Thermolon is made with ceramic and sand; this combination makes their cookware highly resistant to heat. Most of their cookware can handle temperatures of up to 842 F. The biggest problem that presented itself with no-stick pans was the presence of toxic substances like lead, PFOA, cadmium, and PTFE, but with Greenpan cookware, this problem is solved instantaneously as there are no toxic substances in them.

Although both of these companies make high-quality products, they have some differences that set them apart from each other. So, let’s talk about these differences, so you can choose the one that suits your needs.

Although every cookware has an expiry date or a period after which it becomes useless, we have to choose between products that last longer. Scanpan has an excellent coating that lasts for around one to three years, depending on how you use it.

If you use it extensively and harshly (using steel spatulas and steel scrubs), then the coating is bound to last for a shorter duration. Greenpan, on the other hand, usually lasts for one year. After the one-year mark, the coating starts to get disintegrated and eventually, it becomes useless.

Heat distribution

This factor is one of the most important factors you have to consider before buying any cookware, as heat distribution greatly affects how the food is cooked. Scanpan has a superior heat distribution in comparison to Greenpan. The thick flat base of the pans has more metal in it, which may absorb heat slowly, but this also means that it transfers heat more efficiently and retains it for much longer. On the other hand, Greenpan has proved to be greatly inconsistent when it comes to heat distribution, as the base of the pans is usually not optimized for this property.

Lid and Handle Design

The usability of any cookware depends on the design of its handles and lids. If your cookware has a poor handle design, it won’t be easy to carry the cookware while cooking and toss things around. While the lid design is important to ensure that the steam and flavors of the food are sealed perfectly in the pan; This ensures that the food is properly cooked and the taste and texture of the food are on point. Greenpan is considered to have a superior design of lids and handle in all of their products.

So What’s the Difference Between Scanpan and Greenpan?

  • Greenpan can handle temperatures up to 842F, while for Scanpan, this temperature is 932F.
  • Scanpan has a non-stick coating of Straranium, while Greenpan has a coating of Thermolon.
  • Greenpan products are made from recycled stainless steel as well as recycled aluminum. On the other hand, Scanpan products are made using Ceramic and Titanium.
