Rose wine: Made in a short 12-36 hours fermentation time, this wine is made from red or black grapes and is rose pink in color.
Sweet wine: Served with desserts after a meal, sweet wine is drunk as an aperitif.
Sparkling wine: A game-changer in celebrations, sparkling wine has carbon dioxide bubbles that are specifically added during fermentation.
From its attractive pink tint to the refreshment it delivers, the rose has now become the classical choice of wine lovers over the past several years. Rosé, like white and red wine, is a genre of vine that is fermented for a shorter period of time compared to other wines, hence the pink shade.
Rose wine can be formulated from various grapes and is usually a blend. Syrah, Carignan and Grenache are the most customary species of grapes used to make rose wine. Unlike other wines, the skin of the grapes is left in the juice for a shorter period of time, ranging between two to twenty hours. This is the main disparity between the shade of rose and red wine because the longer the skin of grapes is left in the juice, the deeper and more prominent the pink color.
Rose wine can be dry or sweet based on the climate, production method, fermentation process and the type of grapes used. Most are one of the sweetest varieties of wine derived from the Italian language for ‘Moscato- grape variety. The popular vine variety is relatively affordable due to its easy growth, invariably fertile lands of Italia tracing its origin from ancient Egypt.
This historic grape type has further 200 varieties including Moscato d’Asti, Moscato Rosa, Moscato Giallo, Moscato Canelli plus many more. Being a bubbly to fortified wine- the phenotype of this family of wine comes in white to yellow or pink to blank color ranges with the acidity lying between medium to low. When grapes are at the optimal level of sweetness, they are picked and crushed for producing Moscato wine. These grapes are then chilled until they are almost frozen to halt the fermentation process.
Pink Moscato wine is often confused with rose wine due to its identical pink shade. Pink Moscato wine is a blend formulated by mixing both red and white Muscat grapes together. Golden, red and white Moscato are other varieties of Moscato wine. Renowned for the best in combination with opposite taste sensations, Moscato is a very sugary and luscious wine and pairs well with many recipes and dishes, including fruits salad, Thai curries, roasted beef, fruit tarts, and baked goods desserts etc.
