How Long To Soak Pinto Beans

If you want to go for the quick soak method, the soaking times will be cut down significantly. Instead of the normal 6 to 8 hours, the pinto beans will need no more than 90 minutes to be completely soaked.

Can You Soak Pinto Beans Overnight?

The ideal method of soaking pinto beans is overnight soaking. You have to wash them thoroughly and remove any split beans and dirt. After that, you should put them in a non-reactive bowl and pour cold over them.

You will have to add enough water to cover them by at least an inch or two. The next important thing is to control their temperature because if the temperature becomes too much for the beans, they will ferment. Normally the overnight soak is 8 to 10 hours long, and the consistency of the beans should be medium soft by the end.

How to Soak Pinto Beans Fast

Pinto beans are pretty much easy to quick soak. You’ll need a good heating pot to get those beans boiling; some people use a ceramic Dutch oven because it is non-reactive and heat receptive. Cover your beans in water and bring them to a boil.

Allow the beans to boil for two minutes before removing them from the heat. Allow them to soak in warm water for about an hour or until they reach the desired level of softness. Don’t soak them for too long, or they’ll lose their shape (Pinto beans tend to do that).
