Many names refer to lunch meat, such as luncheon meat, cold cut meat, deli meat, and cooked meat. Deli meats are precooked meat slices that you can eat either hot or cold. It is convenient to prepare sandwiches or dumplings by using deli meats. 

You can also classify pepperoni and salami as lunch meat; they can either be sliced or rolled onto sticks to be sliced later on. The curing process includes preserving meat by adding salt to minimize moisture content and increase its shelf life.
