Storing dry homemade breadcrumbs
Store dry breadcrumbs in a cool and dry place. If store likewise, the dry breadcrumbs remain fresh in the kitchen for up to six months. However, the best way to store them for a longer duration is to keep them in the fridge or freezer.
Storing flaky breadcrumbs

Storing Store-bought Breadcrumbs

Can you freeze breadcrumbs?
Yes, you can easily freeze breadcrumbs. Storing breadcrumbs in the freezer is one of the good ways to store them for a long time. However, you do not need to freeze the breadcrumbs because of their good shelf life.
For the store-bought breadcrumbs, you need to check the label to see whether you can freeze them. However, it will be good not to be a good idea to freeze breadcrumbs bought from the market in many cases.
The reason is that they have a unique crispy texture. So, when you freeze them, the texture of these breadcrumbs would change slightly. It is because when you defrost them, they lose the original texture they have.
How long do breadcrumbs last?
The breadcrumbs have a dry texture than ordinary bread; therefore, they have an excellent shelf life. If kept away from moisture, they can last for about six months. The reason is that mold and fungus do not form when there is no moisture.

- Bad smell: To test the breadcrumbs, whether they have gone bad or not, one method is to smell the crumbs. When the breadcrumbs are fresh, they generally give a pleasant smell. But when breadcrumbs go bad due to some reasons, breadcrumbs may have gone bad. In this case, through them away and do not use them at all.
- Change in taste: Last but not least, check the taste of breadcrumbs to confirm whether they go bad or not. If the bread crumbs are bad, the breadcrumbs will give off a sour taste. It is time to discard them. On the other hand, if the breadcrumbs are still dry, hard, and grumpy in texture, it is up to you whether you want to use the breadcrumbs for cooking or want to discard them.
